About the Show

For this edition of The Short Kuts Show Live Storytelling Series, we took a bunch of folks back to their “school daze”! This show’s theme was all about HBCU life “on the yard” and all the special experiences that such institutions offer and provide for their Black American and Black Afro-diasporic student bodies. From Morehouse to Spelman, Howard U all the way to Wilberforce, from the Q Dogs to the AKA’s – according to these storytellers and the audience in attendance, the HBCU educational experience is incomparable!

The Short Kuts Show: School Dazed – True Stories of the HBCU Daze of the Yard was hosted by Kiragu Beauttah, a very funny stand up comic, father, and educator using comedy as a means for conflict resolution in Baltimore City via his comedy classes as a teacher at Frederick Douglas High School. You can learn more about him here.

The Short Kuts Show Live Storytelling Series is produced by Fades & Fellowship.

FAMILY:   As the pandemic persists, The Short Kuts Show Narrative Therapy Initiative ~&~ Live Storytelling Experience is also persisting in its efforts in creating individual and village uplift with storytelling coupled with therapeutic practices--“narrative therapy” (or “thairapy”, as The Short Kuts Show is a storytelling project inspired by/paying homage to the hair-chair therapists of the Black American barber/beauty shop--its barbers and stylists), as we call it--positively impacting the community.
